The recipe that I'm going to share with you today I didn't have planned to post about for a few more weeks. I did a trial run on Golden Blossom Honey's Pear and Cranberry Tartlets last week for something new to add to our Thanksgiving menu this year, snapped my pics, got them edited and stored them in my saved files on my laptop thinking that's where they would stay for a few more weeks.
But
then something happened this week that demanded all of my attention and
I didn't get around to making the recipe that I had originally
earmarked for this Friday's post. What could have pulled me away from my happy place, the kitchen? A 1 pound ball of fur, that's what. I want you all to meet my new baby, Emily.
I've never been a cat person, always opting to have dogs, but maybe it's because I've been grand-mothering my daughter's kitties the last few years, they have kind of grown on me. Emily was an animal dump and run that my aunt found on her farm, and how anyone could have left this sweet bundle on the side of the road is beyond me. She just wants all the cuddles. So, I apologize for speeding up this recipe, but I figured you would all let it slide for this good cause. This year we'll have something extra to be thankful for, in the unexpected gift of Emily. And what sweeter way to celebrate this year's blessings than with some delicious fall flavored tartlets?
The Pear and Cranberry Tartlets combine some of the best fall flavors into bite sized discs of bliss. And because you use prepared puff pastry sheets, there's minimal effort needed to whip these up for your dinner guests. Looking over the recipe, I knew that for our trial run it would be fine to run it as is for the 3 of us in the household, but for Thanksgiving, if there's more than 5 guests on your list, you're going to want to double it because these will go fast!
Ingredients
1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY1 tablespoon apricot preserves
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed but still cold
1 medium Bartlett pear
2 tablespoons dried cranberries, finely chopped
2 tablespoons pine nuts

Have you started planning your Thanksgiving menu yet?
Looks lovely and I like the combo of apricots and pears and berries and honey!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you just keep Grand Prince Dezzimir two weeks ago? Not that I don't like Emily, so cute! How is she getting along with da dogs? We gave away Vlasta's kids Kosta and Gavriel so now Vlasta and Dzelyana are alone again.
I felt guilty giving him to the rescue because Allison was really upset about it, otherwise I probably would not have taken Emily in. We saw one of his siblings running down the road tonight. If I ever end up catching him, we'll have 2 cats LOL
DeleteNo, I’m taking one day at a time. Halloween weekend has my full attention! Your Kitty is cute, but I’m a dog person as well. Those tarts look scrumptious. I hate apricots but love apricot preserves and jam. Isn’t that weird?
ReplyDeleteIt's not weird at all! There are so many things that I hate as made by the earth but love it when it's turned into something else.
DeleteLove it so much.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeletePear and cranberry are an amazing fruits! Both of them are so healthy and this combination looks delicious. We make cranberry marmalade alot for the winter times. This recipe sounds good.
ReplyDeleteBye the way, baby cat in the photo looks so cute. I love it. Hope it is not ill.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Your marmalade recipes do always look delicious!
DeleteThe kitty is 100% healthy. Vet checked and all good :)
I've never tired pear and cranberry before but these look delicious!
ReplyDeleteYour new kitten is adorable too - so sweet you were able to give her a happy home! Emily is a lovely name :)
Hope that you are having a wonderful weekend :) We had a beach day yesterday!
Away From The Blue
Beach days are the best days. I am sure you have missed them during your Aussie winter!
DeleteI'm all in on this one!! It looks delicious and I'm having way too much fun saying the word "tartlets". Good luck with the kitty! Rescues are the best if you have the time to rehabilitate. She's a cutie for sure (but I'm scratching my eyes just from looking at the picture). We haven't started planning the menu yet, but I will once Halloween passes.
ReplyDeleteTartlet is such a fun word! Thankfully, she's already fit right in. No issues other than that ball of energy that comes with the age LOL
DeleteCranberries have the perfect tart flavor. I think this recipe sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosey :)

ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome!
DeleteLooking at you going to the cats lol well you need them on your farm too. So it has begun. Crazy cat lady soon? haha Sure cute indeed. Dogs enjoy her?
ReplyDeleteI definitely will need more cats for my farm. Dogs too. And cows and alpaca and goats... LOL
DeleteThe dogs don't love her, but they are starting to tolerate her.
Love it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI love pears so this sounds good.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween! I hope you get some trick or treaters and some good candy to snack on as well.
We got a few. Like 30. A little less than normal which was surprising since it was fairly nice out.
DeleteIt looks so delish. Thanks for the recipe. I'll definitely try this.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)

DeleteOh Emily is so cute! **Insert squeal! I wish I could have a cat. Now Mica's asking for a pet. I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI think the pear cranberry would be a good combo. I'm making a Thanksgiving breakfast for my parents.
I know, it's hard to say no, but man those allergies can be brutal. I think you've got a great pet in Sunny and Warhol.
DeletePear is one of my favorite fruits...
ReplyDeleteI should try your recipe... Thank you for sharing
