If you're like me, you're still wiped out from Christmas. I really love the holidays, but by New Year's Eve I'm just counting down to their passing. This year is the first in many that Jason and I have no plans and I can't say I'm sad about that. But if you made plans before exhaustion set in, (because face it, we've all made plans that sounded good at the time, but when the day finally arrives, you just want to stay in snuggled up on the couch in your pajamas) then I'm here to help you out. Whether you're hosting a gathering at your home or heading out, if you want an appetizer that's going to impress but takes practically no effort at all, take note of these Cucumber and Crab Canapes, a recipe from Golden Blossom Honey.
These little two bite appetizers look swanky, like you've put a lot of effort into preparing them, but you can have these whipped up in under 20 minutes. There's no baking required and all you need is a knife and a melon baller and you're good to go. Peel, cut, stuff, plate....done. Toss a few sprigs of parsley on the plate for a little extra oomph and call it a day. Trust me. Everyone will think these took a lot more time to prepare than they do. But we'll keep that our little secret.
Ingredients
2 medium cucumbers, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch slices2 teaspoons fresh parsley, chopped
2 Tablespoons soy sauce
2 Tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 Tablespoon GOLDEN BLOSSOM RAW HONEY
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
2 (6 ounces) cans crab meat, drained
paprika for garnish

Sure looks like it will hit the mark indeed. But I'm with you, no plans. Much better that way. Happy New Number Day
ReplyDeleteNo plans was the way to go. I love ringing in the new year on the couch in my pajamas lol
DeleteLooks very pretty arranged, deary. I miss cutting boards and gorgeous wooden trays in your Etsy shop, I swear I do, they was so perdy when you was making them before! Are they too expensive to make or to sell?
ReplyDeleteI generally hate cucumbers, but then have an urge to eat them so I will sometimes buy them and put them in a semwich or just eat them with garlic as a salad.
Happy New Year to you and the family and the pets!
I don't understand you and Jax hating cucumbers. I slice those babies up and eat them all the time. Nom!
DeleteHonestly, I hadn't had much time to mess with Etsy last year. I can make the same amount of money at a craft show in one day that I make all of December for Christmas sales and don't have to mess with packaging and shipping and worrying about the postal service losing the items, so my main focus was traveling the Midwest and doing direct in person sales. I do still have the trays and cutting boards and will slowly start adding them back in to the shop as time permits in February. It's just right now I am exhausted from going nonstop since the beginning of last summer, I vowed I was taking January off from producing anything new for Etsy or craft fairs just to regroup and come back ready to kick ass again after I've rested a bit.
Soon you will become a millionaire, dahlink :))))
DeleteI'd settle for being debt free LOL.
DeleteHappy New Year! We are staying in and having our traditional crab legs and Chandon. Wishing you a healthy and joyous 2022.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bijoux! I hope your New Yew is off to a fabulous start!
DeleteThese would be delicious on some sort of carb. LOL I'm not sure why, but I could never bring myself to eat a cucumber. It's one of the very few vegetables that I don't enjoy. I'm with you on not enjoying New Years. It's the mark of the end of the holiday season and the start of real Winter.
ReplyDeleteEither way, Happy New Year to you and yours!!
You and Dezzy disappoint me with your hatred of cucumbers lol. You could certainly make the filling and use it on little toasted crackers/bread.
DeleteHope you are having a wonderful start to the year!
