Pink and red everywhere these days, right? It can only mean one thing: Valentine's Day is coming in hot! Jason and I never celebrate as a couple, though I admit that I do miss the little crafts and treats that I'd make with our girls when they were younger. As indifferent as I have been to the holiday these last few years, I can admit that one of my favorite days of the year is February 15 when all of the good chocolates are 1/2 price! If you know me, I have a sweet tooth and almost never say no to treats that will quench the sweets cravings. I had a lot of downtime while we were in Florida in January, and some lovely kitchens to play in, so it was the perfect time to sort though some of my saved Golden Blossom Honey recipes and whip up some yummy things for us to eat at home (away from home). I thought about making this Holiday Dessert Cherry Sauce at Christmas, but cherries, while red, don't really scream Christmas to me. But they sure do say Valentine's Day.

What drew me to this recipe was it offered an outlet for me to get my sweets cravings filled, but isn't necessarily a dessert in itself. It can surely be used over ice cream, cheesecake and pound cake. But, it is also fantastic for breakfast on pancakes, French toast, bagels, and even stirred into oatmeal, making it another versatile recipe from Golden Blossom Honey that you're going to want to keep on hand for not only the Valentine holiday, but for Mother's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day as well. Or really any day of the week. Because a dessert sauce this good doesn't need to be saved for a special holiday. It should be whipped up and served year round!

Ingredients

1 can (16 ounces) red tart pitted, water packed cherries, drain and reserve juice
3/4 cup reserved cherry juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
3 tablespoons GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
1/8 teaspoon almond extract

Will you be making any special treats this Valentine's Day? Do you look forward to the 1/2 price candies the day afterwards?

    1. We're back home now and I want to go back to the sun and warmth :( But maybe everyone else will be too cold to go out for candy, so there will be more for me.

  3. Looks so lovely dear, bet Jason was happy to devour all those sweets from the photos.
We don't really have Valentines sweets here, and chocolate is always expensive here, rarely on a discount, I usually buy some Milkas from my smugglers. They are 90 dinars at my smugglers and 170 in the shops LOL

    1. Wow, what a price difference! I usually go for the Lindor or Ghirardelli if there are any left at a discount. I have seen the Milka at the stores that have world items, usually in Chicago and they are about $3 each, so right around what your smugglers charge you for them.

    2. No, that is three times that, deary LOL One euro is a bit more than one dollar, and one euro is 117 dinars, so for $3 you could buy three Milkas at my smugglers. I've been yesterday even though it was zero outside, had to buy some Dove, tea and Milkas. I've seen one smuggler with Lindor in five or six flavours, but it is about $6 here which is extremely expensive for us poor beggars. Dove difference between shops and smugglers is even crazier. I bought new antibacterial Dove shower gel (it has the smell of the old Dove Night / very beautiful) and I paid 190 dinars, while it is 550 dinars in shops LOL Big 700ml bottle is around 300 dinars at smugglers and almost a 1000 dinars in the freaking shops! We have the highest prices in Europe even though we are the poorest country. And we are too stupid to riot about it, although I love me a good riot!

    3. I need to get in touch with your smugglers. I need $1 Milkas! You can't even get a big Snickers here for that little amount of money.
