It's fruit picking season and I am here for it! Unfortunately my wild strawberries don't look like they're going to come back this year, but my blueberry bushes and cherry tree are looking pretty promising so far. While I may not get fresh from the garden strawberries, this is the time of the year that I don't mind buying a few containers from the grocers. I had the first in-season berries at my Cinco de Mayo party a few weeks back and my sister-in-law introduced me to a new treat. Strawberries dipped in sour cream then rolled in a bit of brown sugar. Sounds disgusting, but it ended up being so good! It's not something I'd eat regularly because I like my berries plain or with a touch of whipped cream, but I'd eat a couple of them like that every now and again. Because I tend to go hog wild when the berries are first in season, I did end up with a little more fruit than intended before we headed off to Atlanta last week. That left me scrambling for a recipe to use them in so I didn't come home to a fridge full of moldy fruit. I found this Kiwi Berry Pie recipe on Golden Blossom Honey, and we ended up eating it for our anniversary dessert last week.

If you're a fruit lover as much as I am, then this pie recipe is all you're going to need this summer. It has an amazing assortment of the best fruits all rolled into one delicious pie. I'm not gonna lie, it's sweet. Like really, really sweet, but that's what I love about this dessert. We ate it as is because we didn't have any on hand, but if you're wanting to take it up a notch in the sweetness department, hit your slice with some whipped cream for an extra bit of pizzazz. With all of the summertime gatherings on the horizon, make sure you pin this recipe. It's easy, it's delicious, and it makes for the best summertime potluck dessert. You can thank me later.

  1. It does sound disgusting dipping them in sour cream LOL and diarhoea inducing LOL
Your pie is, on the other hand, lovely, what a lovely array of colours! You should once do just kiwi and blackberries as green and dark violet create the most wonderful decor.
I have not eaten any berries this year yet, not even strozzberries...

    1. Yes, that color combination is gorgeous!
Are you not eating berries because of your diet? Or you just can't find good ones there yet?

  2. Sadly, deer eat everything here, so no fruit in our yard. I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!

    1. I'd probably let them eat it all just so I could watch them from my window. Jason feeds all of the birds and squirrels, but we don't have any deer in our subdivision.

  6. Sounds like a rather umm nasty combo indeed. But sometimes those are the ones that taste the best. Great way to use them up too.

I grew up in California and we had a bunch of fruit tree's. Here in Vegas you don't see that much.
