I'm just going to go ahead and pat myself on the back this week since I didn't hit up the stores for the half price Valentine's Day candy this year. It was tempting, but I received many bags of Lindor Truffles for Christmas and will be picking through those for awhile still and just didn't need the extra chocolate beckoning me to come have a bite. Because it never stops at just one bite when you know there's an abundance. What I did do though, was look for tasty ways to use up the sale priced fruit from the weekend before it was set to spoil. I used my bananas for some chocolate chip banana bread, lemons were sliced and put into water jugs for infused water, and the rest I tossed into a Healthy Honey Breakfast Shake from a recipe I grabbed off of the Golden Blossom Honey website.
I love this type of recipe because there are no set rules for what can be tossed into the mix. That makes it fun to experiment not only with different fruit concoctions, but with different kinds of juices as well. Since we were swimming in strawberries, kiwi, and blueberries, I dumped those into the blender. Then I used a strawberry acai juice in addition to the honey for the sweetener. I still have blueberries leftover and thought I'd try something tangy for my next round and hit it with some lemonade and that might be my summertime brunch shake if it ends up being a hit. If you don't want to play with different juices, mix up the yogurt flavors. I usually stick with plain or vanilla, but there are so many different options, I feel like the possibilities for new flavor creations would be endless with this recipe!
Ingredients
1/2 – 1 cup strawberries, peaches, bananas, or any combination of fruit
1 cup yogurt, low-fat or non-fat
2 Tablespoons RAW GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
2 Tablespoons any fruit juice

Did you stock up half priced candies this week?
Looks very pretty and such gorgeous glasses, are they very big? I love half a litre big cups like that.
ReplyDeleteSadly, we do not have Valentines chocolate sales, they are always expensive here. Lindor is too expensive for our standards here and so are most other chocolates these days. If we did not have smugglers I don't think I would be buying that stuff at all.
They aren't super big, but filling enough for a breakfast with nothing else on the side. How do you reach the smugglers, deary? Is there like a secret alley you meet up and purchase the goods from?
DeleteThey have stalls at the green markets just like you deary. Don't ask me why the police ain't touching them. They did close my smuggler near the house a few years ago, where I buy most of my stuff, but she bribed someone and is now selling like she is perfectly legal LOL God bless her, don't know what I'd do without her. I buy everything there from batteries and air fresheners to salamy for my cats. I once even found some shit for cleaning pipes in the toilet there, saved my house from flooding LOL I buy honey there too, pretty much everything, and then the next stall is my green grocer where I buy veggies, fruit, eggs and nuts. And between them is our newstand where you buy papers and also credit for my mobile. Some ice cream there too in the street fridge. And around them we have two bakeries with pastries and bread and burek, and a little pub too. Across from it all is our local supermarket, minus the super part LOL
DeleteNo, I don’t eat candy unless it’s 85%+ dark chocolate.
ReplyDeleteDark chocolate is my favorite, but I will buy a milk chocolate bar on occasion if dark isn't available. Trader Joes used to carry my favorite dark candy bar but it seems like they discontinued it and now I need to find a suitable replacement.
DeleteEs ideal :D
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love homemade shakes. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are the best!
DeleteGood way to mix and match and find something you really like. No candy for me. Saw plenty of people buying it up though
ReplyDeleteDid you not buy the twins any candy? Get them extra good uncle points in by doing so!
DeleteOoh this would be fun, and you can make the shakes seasonal. Christmas Cranberry with Golden Blossom Honey? Has it been done? I'm not shaking my head no to giving that a try. And that's just one season, lol. I'm thinking up full shake memories here. I'm non a roll and there's no stopping me. :)
ReplyDeleteI like your thinking, Rosey! Holiday shakes with this as the base for the win!
DeleteLooks good. I did not stock up on candy. I was good and only had a couple of candies on Valentines day.
ReplyDeleteGood job sticking with your healthy diet, Mary!
DeleteNice 😋😋😋
ReplyDeleteVery much so!
DeleteI passed on them, they usually only have the weird ones left when I check the clearance
ReplyDeleteI don't even know why they bother with the weird ones in the first place. Just give us all the good ones!
DeleteHi, Teresa! This looks so yummy! Terry and I shared an acai and fruit bowl this morning. I saw the person making the bowl for us pour a generous amount of honey on it. I immediately thought of you and Golden Blossom Honey! I'll try this recipe when I return home. Our condo kitchen is sparsely supplied with utensils. Enjoy the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteThe acai bowl sounds amazing! I bet they are soooo good in Hawaii with all that fresh produce!
DeleteParece un rico desayuno. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful! Very inspiring and very delicious :) Thank you for a great post!
